Motion to approve 'Accountant's Reports' by Miller. Seconded by Thistle. Approved.

Communications: None

Snowplow Damage to Runway: Roger Thistle reported that certain areas by the edge of the runway need to be filled with dirt. We have a pile of dirt available. Suggestions were made about an 'airport cleanup day' but it was felt that it would be hard to organize. Motion by Miller to have Roger Thistle repair the damage, estimating a 2 hour job or between $80-$160 and if expense did not exceed that figure then proceed. Seconded by Troestler. Approved.

Mowing: Al Checky offered his equipment for mowing. There were some concerns about liability. President Olson wanted to go on record stating that he believed "volunteer" duties can sometimes lead to later problems when members feel that have contributed more than others or may want payment for services rendered. A motion was made by Troestler that we use Al Checky's equipment; only pay for the gas and as agreed upon with Mr. Checky, not be responsible for any damage or repairs to the equipment. Mowing would be done on a strictly volunteer basis by only hangar owners and this should be understood by anyone taking on the job. Under no circumstance would payment be rendered for this work. Seconded by Weiss. Approved.

Mowing Update: Bart Olson's office conferred with the insurance company and they did not see a problem with liability coverage as long as it was understood that it was not a paid job but volunteer work only and no one under the age of 25 or without an ownership or interest in the airport be allowed to mow; the danger of navigating on or near the runway should be emphasized to the volunteer.

Olson Airport Proposal: Documentation was presented by Bart Olson with figures on government funding for the airport. Anyone wishing a copy of this information please contact Bart Olson's office at 608-493-9470 or visit www.saukprairieairport.com. Motion made by Weiss to support plan for airport development. Seconded by Miller. Approved.

Sympathies go out to the family of Charlie Cox who passed away. Motion to purchase card by Weiss. Seconded by B. Olson. Approved. Sympathy card will be located at Al Checky's business for anyone to sign.

Milt Zech Memorial: The stone is still waiting to be inscribed and the bench should arrive by the end of May. Al Checky volunteered to cement the bench in place.

Other Business: Roger Thistle has many concerns about the leased land adjoining the airport by Mr. Ballweg. The extremely heavy pea combines and other equipment have been crossing the runway. It was felt that an alternate route should be suggested and a weight limit for the runway was needed. Farm equipment has been observed by members turning around and infringing on the taxiway and parking lot. President Olson suggested we send a letter to Mr. Ballweg with alternate suggestions on access; making it clear that there is to be no turning around on the runway and informing him that he would be responsible for any damages that occurred to the airport property. It may be necessary for the equipment to cross the runway to gain access. Joan Weiss stated that there are town and state ordinances which forbid driving on airport runways. Treasurer Bart Olson will compose and send letter to Mr. Ballweg.

President Olson asked if there were any other business; as there was none a motion to adjourn was made by Miller. Seconded by Thistle. Adjourned.

Next Meeting June 20, 2001
