7:00 PM
Those in attendance were Dave Lukens, Jim Kazmierczak, Curt Mueller, Keith Ballweg, Dave Landsverk, Nick Lester, Linda Wiedenfeld, Bill Ireland, Sharon Barrett, Fritz Wyttenbach, Debby Corrao, Steve Arnold, Dennis Kirch, Bill McFarland, Roger Thistle, Bill Klinkner, Eric Peterson and Wolf Schulenberg.
The Raffle license/permit was received from the State of Wisconsin today and Mueller will start printing the tickets. We will raffle a $2,500.00 Travel Voucher from Travelog at $10.00 a ticket. Curt stressed that we want to promote this as world wide travel voucher for airfare, hotel rental, cruises, car rental, etc. The drawing for the Travel Voucher would be held one week after the event at Travelog. Linda Wiedenfeld will be responsible for the distribution and return of tickets to members and volunteers.
It was decided that we will not need to put up tents as Curt’s new hanger will be large enough for picnic tables if people want to sit out of the sun.
Dave Lukens announced that he has contacted the FFA and Sauk Prairie Boy Scouts to assist with serving and clean up. There is interest by the Boy Scouts to work on aircraft badges with the assistance of the SPA. Dave noted that the Weiner Mobile is available for the 17th only and not the rain date of the 18th.
Curt notified us of the insurance liability expense of approximately $2400.00. He wanted us to know of his concern and personnel liability. He reported that the Leine Garden will be supplied by C & H Distributors. He will supply C & H with 500 Fly In fliers that their route people will distribute on their routes. They will also supply banners for the beer garden, signs for prices, signs for the split rail fence prior to the event and possible overhead street banners for the two downtown areas. An additional 300 fliers will be distributed by members and volunteers. A large sign will be set back on the corner of PF and Hwy 12 prior to the event. Mueller has printed 5,000 hand out fliers and plans to print another 25,000. Curt wanted us to know that he has increased security at the airport.
Jim Kazmierczak reported that he is getting interested parties to display advertising at $10.00 per foot along the split rail and orange snow fence that separates the area from the runway.
Butch Frosh is the chairman of the beer garden and it has been arranged for a licensed bartender to be working at all times. There will be a separate ticket booth for beer sales located in a stand in the garden. The Juice Mobile was suggested as the booth to be used for beer ticket sales on one side and soda and water distribution on the outside of the garden. Beer pricing will be $2.00 per cup and $8.00 per pitcher with $7.00 refills. A chairman will be needed to coordinate the soda and water sales. All soda will be served in screw top plastic bottles.
Fritz Wyttenbach stated that he will be ready for food sales. He will ready an estimate of how much we expect to sell. 2,000 chickens are planned along with brats and burgers.
Virgil Schulenberg informed us that the Trap Club will be sponsoring an event the same day and may attract 800 people to our event. Virgil is sending information on the event to 20,000 people on his mailing list.
Nick Lester reported that he will be coordinating with Bob Henry on the antique auto/tractor/cycle/aircraft show. Plans are to intermingle all the displays. Bill McFarland reported that the EAA Morning Fly In and plans for air traffic control are taken care of.
Curt Mueller explained some of his plans for promotion. He would like the local papers to do weekly interviews of Sky Diving Elvis, the Weiner Mobile, the history of Leinenkugel in Sauk City, Travelog and the raffle, Aviation and Charter flights, the Balloon man, the 30 foot long Airport Blimp, local airport history and maps in the papers prompting traffic safety. Keith Ballweg suggested place mats with these stories on them as souvenirs.
Kurt and Keith will stake out the grounds for the location of the booths and displays after the hanger is built. The entrance will be near the hanger and the exit will be at the north end of the property.
It was discussed that the new grass will be mature enough to park cycles on and shuttle plans for cycles in the Mueller parking lot will not be necessary.
The next Fly-In planning meeting will be Thursday, May 18, 2006 at 7 PM at the town hall.
