April 17, 2002

Present:

Board Members: Kirk Olson, Bart Olson, Roger Thistle, Al Checky, Bob Cushing, Joan Weiss.

            Hangar Owner: Doyle Curtis

 

President Kirk Olson called the meeting to order at 7:15

Motion to approve the October 17, 2001 minutes by Joan Weiss. Seconded by Roger Thistle. Approved.

Motion to adopt agenda by Roger Thistle. Seconded by Joan Weiss. Approved.

Motion to approve Treasurers Report as printed by Bob Cushing. Seconded by Al Checky. Approved.

Bart Olson presented the Annual Report for year 2001.

Communications: None

AON Insurance: Bart Olson reported that after a call to the insurance carrier regarding the received notice, the airport insurance is still active with the exception of "terrorism coverage."

Milt Zech Memorial: Al Checky reported that the monument is now complete.

Airport Signs: Bart Olson has finished three signs for the airport to be placed as follows:

  1) End of parking lot

              2) By existing runway sign

              3) East of the house and sheds

   Signs read as follows: Stop No Unauthorized Vehicles Beyond This Point

Joan Weiss reiterated that there is a Town of PDS ordinance against any vehicles except for maintenance vehicles driving across the runway.

Bart Olson reported that the Village and Town of Prairie du Sac on 3-20-02 had offered a “Counter Proposal” to his original “Airport Proposal” made on 5-1-01 and he had sent them a “Counter Offer” on 4-1-02. The main difference in the proposals is “lengthening the runway”. Olson presented a Thursday, April 18, 2002 article in the Sauk Prairie Star entitled "Should runway at airport just be wider, or also longer?" Olson also fielded questions about the various proposals and counters.

New Business: None

President Olson asked if there were any other business; as there was none a motion to adjourn  was made by Bob Cushing. Seconded by Joan Weiss. Adjourned.

Notes after adjournment: Regarding the recent hiring of Eldon Electric by Bart Olson to repair some runway lights Olson was informed by Al Checky that it has been the policy of the board that Milt Schott monitors the runway lights and keeps a stock of lights in his hangar and fixes them when needed. Checky also announced that he would again provide his equipment for mowing this season.
