Re: Airport Lighting Improvements
Date: October 17, 2006
Please note that the runway lights at the Sauk Prairie Airport (91C) will be operated only on frequency 122.90 as of Monday, October 23, 2006. To activate the runway lights, key your aircraft microphone three times on frequency 122.90. You may have to taxi slightly west of the west hangar row to achieve line of sight reception. Airborne reception should not be impeded by the hangars.
Runway End Identifier Lights (REILs) are being installed at the ends of both runways and should be operational on 10/25/06. To activate the REILs key your microphone seven times on frequency 122.90. By doing so, you will activate the runway lights and REILS.
After the runway lights and/or REILs have been activated they will remain on for 15 minutes before turning off.
We hope to have Precision Approach Path Indicator Lights (PAPIs) at both ends of the runway by October 2007. The PAPIs, when installed, will turn on (along with the runway lights) by keying your microphone five times on frequency 122.90.
Also, a rotating beacon is being installed west of the runway and should be operational by 10/23/06. The rotating beacon will operate on a photocell.
These lighting changes are being made to enhance the safety and enjoyment for you and all who use the Sauk Prairie Airport.
